Roberge’s weighty tome is designed as a guide for the practicing engineer. The level of presentation is largely qualitative and descriptive, with the more qualitative subjects relegated to the appendixes (e.g., electrochemistry basics, thermodynamics, and E-pH diagrams, etc.). Eleven chapters and seven appendixes are included…Liberal use is made of pictures, tables diagrams, etc. and an extensive list of references is given at the end of each chapter. The book can be read by those with little or no previous background in the subject area and contains a liberal amount of “practical” information. Upper-division undergraduates; professionals; two-year technical program students.

An excellent masterpiece

Handbook of corrosion enginneering is an excellent peice of work by Pierre R Roberge. This covers almost the entire gamut of the subject in very good details and the explanations are very lucid. The texts are supported by excellent diagrams and photographs. A must book for all practicing corrosion engineers.

Good book to have

Are you a corrosion scientist ou corrosion engineer? This general book wil be of help to you. It comprises a lot of issues, however, it's important to point out that no one goes deep. If you need to understand electrochemistry a little bit more, or mechanisms in details, it's better to search another book. Anyway, this book is a good reference to have.

Very Comprehensive Text

It is very thorough on many subjects of corrosion. It helped me understand the very many subtleties of galvanic corrosion in the presence of salt water and the possible ways to reduce it.
I liked that it covered corrosion of many different engineering materials beyond steel.
