Another Dilemma for the Mouse Magnifique

We own a half a dozen in the series of Anatole the mouse. This one, like all the sequels follows a rough formula: dilemma, overly-detailed plan, Anatole saves the day and receives great honor and mention for his bravery.
Anatole is a mouse living in Paris with his wife Doucette and their six children (Claude & Claudette, Paule & Paulette, Georges & Georgette). He works incognito as a cheese taster in the Duval Cheese Factory, and always is smart, honest and brave.
In this entry in the series, Doucette and the six children along with other mice in the village go for a picnic in the forest. Simultaneously, a flute player named Grissac is working on a 'Minuet for Mice' but is stumbling because he more accustomed to playing tunes depicting hippos and other large cumbersome animals. He takes a walk in the forest to think over his music, and predictably, paths collide and the mice children are all captured to endure the evil Grissac's music.
Grissac, however, is less evil than thoughtless. Anatole's plan to rescue the mice children in this book is rather over the top as he assembles the entire mouse band from his town and has them flown by pigeon to Grissac's residence to serenade him, whilst capturing his flute and threatening to drop it from the window if he does not comply and release the children.
This he does, vowing to from here out be a friend of the all animals great ad small.
Anatole, as one might predict if one is familiar with the series, is raised high in the esteem of his peers and is once again dubbed the 'Mouse Magnifique.' Ever humble, he credits Doucette as the inspiration for his plan.
My children seem to like these Anatole stories relatively well. These books certainly get repeat reads, and I appreciate their wholesome nature. The stories, save for the first title, do seem to drag a bit in the middle, becoming somewhat needlessly detailed and overly-wordy. Don't get me wrong, I love detail. But the details in the some of the Anatole stories just seem a bit superfluous.
Overall a decent read, but not a favorite.
