Great help for Nursing student in UK (BS or Project 2000)

This is great book, every nursing students should read, not only for their essays.Authors wrote it clear, just simple everyday languages and without using medical jargons.I loved the cartoon picture in the book, it made me laugh and easy for me to memorised the points of the chapter. I read many different nursing process textbooks, some of them are too short and not enough information given to student. Otherwise, most of them too difficult to understand, more like reading a philosiophy textbook rather than nursing textbook.Actually, you don't need to be a genie to understaning the nursing process. Murray and Atkinson proved that in their book, nursing process is easy to use and this book've that job to show the readers. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

The second edition published in 2004 has been revised by addition of a new chapter on " Electrical Measurements " covering measurement of resistances, inductance , capacitance, voltage, current, power , energy , magnetic flux measurements, wave form generation and measurement, frequency and phase measurements. Another new chapter on Dimensional Measurements and its Application to Metrology has been added which covers Surface measurement, Area Measurement by planimeter, surface roughness by Taly surf techniques, Angle Measurement by using sign bars. This has been done according to the suggestions received from reviewers and several teachers to make the book self-contained. Further, additions have been made to the existing chapters by covering emerging topics like virtual instruments and dimensional measurements for metrological applications including surface roughness , size, area measurement and principle and working of slip gages , pneumatic and optical gages etc. A number of problems and an appendix have been added and correction, where necessary been incorporated"

"B C Nakra is presently Professor Eminence, Mechanical and Automobile Engineering Departments at the Institute of Technology and Management Gurgaon, Haryana. He did his Ph D from Imperial College at IIT Kharagpur, followed by long service at IIT Delhi during which he worked as Professor and Head, Mechanical Engineering department; Head, Instrument Design and Development Centre; Head, ITMME Centre and held BHEL and RRM Chairs and several other positions. He has been teaching and research in Vibration Engineering, System Dynamics, Instrumentation, Automatics Controls, Mechatronics and Engineering Design for over four decades. K K Chaudhry is presently Professor Eminence, Mechanical and Automobile Engineering Departments at the Institute of Technology and Management Gurgaon, Haryana. Prior to joining this department, he was Professor in the department of Applied Mechanics of IIT Delhi. During his service at IIT Delhi, he had brief tenures of visiting assignments to Imperial College, London; University of Technology, Baghdad; and Department of Medical Sciences, University of Paris VII, Paris. He has been involved in teaching, research and industrial consultancy for more than four decades in the areas of Biomechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Instrumentation, Environmental Engineering, Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics."

I loved this book. Whitney uses great examples and a sharp tongue to expose many of the myths of our current management thinking. It is laugh-out-loud funny at points, and his writing style flows very well. There is some very good theory in here.

I used this book in my Physiology class at the U of MN. I was so impressed with it that I am now re-buying the book for my own reference now that I am out of school. Difficult-to-understand processes are relayed in an easy-to-understand format.

This book is comprehensive with thorough illustrations.

Human Physiology is comprehensive enough to be easily read. The Illustrations cover most of the confusing topics, but not clearly enough to make it completely understandable. I had to supplement some of them with other texts. Therefore, I only give this 3 stars. I believe that this is a good introductory book for students studying Physiology. The University of Michigan uses this book in the third year of pharmacy school, in kineisiology and the first year of Dental School.

Williams (George Mason U. - VA) is, along with his colleague Prof. Thomas Sowell (Hoover Institute - CA), one of the absolute PREMIER economists and social commentators in the country. He pulls no punches, he doesn't pussyfoot around, he gets to the heart of the matter, and this book is no exception. He explains in detail why Big Government (The State) is no friend of African-Americans, and why it prevents them from achieving everything they need to and want to. Of course, Revs. Jackson and Sharpton, among others, have done their people no favors either. A well-researched look at good intentions gone awry

This book goes into meticulous detail how government programs, ostensibly meant to help the common American worker, actually exacts a tremendous toll on all of American society. However, as Williams so well documents, the costs of these programs fall disproportionately on blacks and other minorities.
One example from the book is the taxi licensing in New York City. Licensing was implemented in the 1930's, and, due to the political pull of existing license holders, not one additional license (medallion) has been issued in more than 60 years. To handle the increased demand for taxi service (there are, after all, a few more people in NYC today than in the '30s) a black market fleet of thousands of illegal taxi drivers has "plagued" the city from almost the very beginning. These "Gypsy" taxis handle the perpetual overflow caused by too many passengers trying to catch too few taxis. They are often the only service to and from the poorer New York neighborhoods that the licensed taxis will not enter.
No one knows exactly how many Gypsy taxis there are at any one time traveling the streets of New York. But the Gypsy taxi driver is almost invariably a poor black or Puerto Rican man who is just trying to eke out an honest living despite the best intentions of the city government.

This is a very good guide for a Business Intelligence specialist. Olap technology concepts help you for the best comprehension of the multidimensional environment (Essbase). This manual speaks about the Hyperion Essbase product history and contains many screenshots to illustrate the use of the principle application such as Smart View or Essbase Server. The architecural schemas are very clear and simple and help you to understand the complexity of the structure.

Clear, well-written and fully explanatory, assumes almost blank slate. Logically organized.

Can gain both theorectical insight and key concepts and understanding of how to use. How to's are step by step, with good screen shots.

Much better than other books on Essbase available to get a good grasp of Essbase as well as Oracle OLAP.

What I like about this book is that it is a no-nonsense book; there is no silly humor like the "Look Smarter Than You Are..." books on Essbase/Hyperion. This really covers the subject well, and is an easy read.

Very good comparison of 2 distinct Oracle OLAP products

I found this book to give a good compare and contrast between the 2 Oracle OLAP products currently on the market. I was looking for a reference that articulated the both functional and technical differences/similarities and this book fits the bill pretty well. Definitely helps to have some OLAP background, but this is a well written technical manual and I found it straight-forward to find both high and lower level information.
