Everyone has their favorite Roark, the one they used when they first discovered it. I had a xerox copy, yes, when the only copiers were xerox, since 1992. I could finally recycle those pages.

A seminal 'must have' for all engineers involved in structural design, machine design, and pressure vessel and piping design.

A materials stress and strain bible by one of the greats. Tho now available via Amazon in its 8th edition [2012] for ca$90 and oddly enough for free as a 7th edition on the web, this 5th edition for a buck is a bargain that I could not pass up. It was mentioned in a PE PDH course I took recently. Tho content mostly applied via computer programs now, principles behind those programs are found here. It is a treat to avail myself of the opportunity to add a superb reference tome to my technical library.
First came across the works of Roark, Timoshenko, DH Young, et al as a newly graduated PU ChE working under the direction of a senior engineer on nuclear submarine reactor compartment bulkhead design using FEA on a CDC 6600 at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady back in the day of punch cards and Wang nixie tubes!

Book was very fairly rated. The book was in excellent condition. This is a book I was very pleased to add to my engineering library.
